Mark your calendars!
ISRO's awaited Chandrayaan 3 to be launched on July 13.
Ahead of manned space mission
The mission has been budgeted at 615 crore.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has confirmed the launch date for its highly anticipated lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3. The rocket is slated to launch on July 13 at 2:30 pm local time, officials announced yesterday.
According to the ISRO chairman, the spacecraft is fully integrated and has completed the testing, the window for the launch of Chandrayaan 3 is between July 12 to 19.
The Chandrayaan-3 will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota by the launch vehicle mark III.
The mission, India's third venture to the moon, represents another significant step for the nation in space exploration, following the successful but bittersweet Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019.
Its debris was later found by NASA around three months later. Despite the setback, the mission wasn't a complete failure as its Orbiter part kept on working normally and gathered a wealth of new information that added to our knowledge about the Moon and its environment.
This new spacecraft consists of an indigenous Lander Module (LM), a Propulsion Module (PM), and a rover to develop and demonstrate new technologies required for interplanetary
missions.
The mission has been budgeted at 615 crore. The Chandrayaan-3 has undergone rigorous testing and validation processes to mitigate risks and ensure a successful mission. The mission design, including the lunar payload configuration, has been optimized based on lessons learned from the previous mission.
The propulsion module will transport the lander and rover configuration to a lunar orbit of 100 km. It incorporates a payload called Spectro-Polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth to conduct spectral and polarimetric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit.
