ChatGPT's rival Google Bard AI chatbot launches globally including India: Here's everything you need to know

Direct competitor of Open AI's Chat GPT, Google has rolled out its generative AI chatbot 'Bard' in over 180 countries, including India. Bard is a large language model (LLM) that can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.

Eventually, Google rolled out Bard’s access for users in the UK and US. And now, during Google’s annual mega event, the Google I/O, the tech giant announced that the wait for Bard comes to an end and that the chatbot is now available for all.

Bard’s rollout in India is significant because it is one of the world’s largest markets for smartphones and internet users. Google is hoping that Bard can be a valuable tool for Indians who are looking for information, entertainment, and productivity assistance.

How to use it?

Google Bard AI chatbot can be accessed via bard.google.com. The user will be told that the chatbot is still being tested. The user will then get the option to 'try Bard'. You can just hit the button and then you will need to agree to the Privacy permission to get access to Bard.

The company says that traditional Google search should still be used for finding and seeking information, such as locating something to purchase.

Since this is an experiment, Google wants people to share their feedback and let them collect data to help improve the service. It is worth noting that the tech giant by default stores your Bard data with your Google account for up to 18 months.

Google has also issued a warning to its Bard users, saying they should not rely on Bard’s responses as medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. People should also avoid sharing any sort of confidential or sensitive information in their Bard conversations.

One of the biggest differences is that Google Bard will stay updated with the latest developments. Whereas ChatGPT has been trained only on data limited till September 2021. Bard will also be able to cite resources if it picks large chunks of data from a single web page.
