We all buy a new computer, and the first thing we install is this application. It's free. After that, I have to say that there is no other application market as good as this application.
We saw what is special about it, but it is an Open Source Application and till date it is running only through the donations given by many people as volunteers. They have recently crossed 6 Billion Downloads and after that they have added a new feature They have said that they will introduce it. But the way they are going to implement it has surprised everyone.
Where did they introduce this feature?
It was at the Consumer Electronic Show held every year in the United States. Their President Jean Baptisite introduced this, meaning that all the videos we watch through VLC will have auto subtitles.
This new feature is not a new feature, but the way they are bringing it is innovative, meaning that subtitles will be generated for the videos we watch. Did you see that it is all generated offline, without the help of any website, and that too in 100 languages.
If we look at how they have made this possible, they have created this feature with a few AI models available in Open Source. All the AI models they use are pre-trained, so we can generate all the subtitles without any internet help.
When will we use this feature.?
It is surprising that such a useful feature is available for free in a tool used by billions of people. But there has been no announcement from VideoLan about when this feature will be released.
